Police to raid criminal hideouts twice a week in Jigawa

The Jigawa State Commissioner of Police, CSP Aliyu Sale Tafida, has directed all Area Commanders and  Divisional Police Officers to embark on a raid of criminal hideouts and black spots within their area of jurisdictions twice a week with immediate effect.

A statement issued and signed by the Command Spokesman, DSP Lawal Shi’is, indicated that the CP gave the directives at the officers mess SHQ Dutse, during a monthly commissioner of police conference with the command’s security managers, area commanders, divisional police officers and other senior police officers.

“This was part of our resolve in making Jigawa state a crime-free state, ensuring that we devise all security measures in place to ensure security cautiousness within our reach in achieving the desired objectives,” the statement read in part.

The CP tasked all area commanders and divisional police officers to liaise with operatives from State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) for intelligence information before conducting any raid so that in the end, suspects must be arrested and exhibits recovered.

He further stated that the raid should be twice a week unless there is an official assignment or other eventualities. 

“In view of this, personnel from Taura Divisional Police Headquarters led by SP Yohana Babale, on 4th July 2022 at about 2030hrs raided criminal hideouts at railway (Bakin Dogo) in Taura LGA.

“During the raid, one Abba Yusuf Tata ‘m’ age 20 years of Taura town was arrested, one hundred and eleven (111) wraps of dry leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp, thirty-three (33) packs of robber solution, a small quantity of soak and die solution, one (1) cutlass, two (2) scissors were recovered from him as exhibits.

“Suspect will be arraigned to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

“The Commissioner of Police, strongly warns that rigorous patrol, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state,” the statement said.
