It is not breaking news that the north is lagging behind in regard to private universities in the region compared to the southern region who had already champion the emergence of private universities in Nigeria.

Prof A.A Gwarzo is now trying to break the barrier with his master plan by initiating a private university in the heart and centre of African commerce popularly called kano, a State with over 11 million inhabitants with only four universities which is not enough to accommodate the overgrowing numbers of the post-secondary applicant in northern Nigeria.

Prof A.A Gwarzo now sees the need that private higher institution is one of the most dynamic and fastest-growing solutions of post-secondary education at the time of twenty-first (21st) century.

With such challenges, the proposed Maryam Abacha American University of Kano put machinery in place in order to come in with possible solutions as it did in the Republic of Niger because the mechanism put in place by Prof A.A Gwarzo in the Maryam Abacha American University kano most not be motivated by project but rather by services.

As the Maryam Abacha American University kano to be commissioning this shows that Prof A.A Gwarzo breaks the barrier with his supportive policy of robust plan of growth, development and diversification, which will in small measure lead to expansion of Maryam Abacha American University across west Africa and the African continent at large, which will immensely contribute to the absorption of excess social demand of University education in Africa.
