Save us from Bello Turji’s men, motorists beg govt

Motorists travelling along the Sokoto-Gusau road have appealed to the government for urgent intervention against attacks by armed men linked to the notorious bandit kingpin, Bello Turji.

Frequent ambushes on the route, particularly between Mafara and Gidan Kudu, have turned the journey into a nightmare for commuters.

Speaking on behalf of the motorists, Abubakar Sanusi shared their harrowing experiences with Sunday PUNCH.

“The bandits attack travellers almost daily, blocking the road and kidnapping people.

The situation is dire, and it feels like the security personnel are not ready to act,” Sanusi lamented.

He urged security agencies to take decisive action and restore safety on the highway.

The motorists’ plea highlights the growing insecurity in parts of Nigeria, where banditry and kidnappings have disrupted daily life and economic activities.

The attackers, suspected to be part of Bello Turji’s network, continue to evade security operations, leaving citizens in fear and frustration.

“We call on the government to save us. These attacks are becoming a daily occurrence,” Sanusi emphasised.
