Notably, his wife, Beatrice Ekweremadu, is also serving a four-year sentence, while Dr. Obinna Obeta, a medical professional involved in the case, received a 10-year sentence for the same offense.
The convictions were handed down at London’s Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, under the Modern Slavery Act on May 5.
The trio had been found guilty in March for trafficking a young Nigerian named David Ukpo to the United Kingdom with the intent of harvesting his kidney for Sonia Ekweremadu, the daughter of the prominent Nigerian senator.
