Shettima to represent Tinubu at World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland

Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to represent Nigeria at the 2025 World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland.

A statement from the Presidency on Sunday confirmed that Shettima would join global leaders, top business executives, and development partners to deliberate on strategies to improve the global economy.

Key events on Shettima’s agenda include:

Workshop on African Frontier Markets: Organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the WEF, this session aims to boost investment in Africa’s emerging markets and unveil the Humanitarian and Resilience Investing (HRI) Roadmap for Africa.

Dinner for Heads of State and Leaders: This exclusive gathering, set for Kurpark Village, Eiger, will feature the 2025 Crystal Awardees and discussions with international organisations and business councils.

Forum on Digital Trade in Africa: Shettima will co-chair a session on leveraging digital trade to enhance the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Trade Protocol, adopted in 2024 by AU heads of state.

Global Risks 2025 Panel: As a panelist, Shettima will discuss pressing global challenges, including geopolitical, technological, and environmental issues.

Accompanying the Vice President are top officials, including Dr Jumoke Oduwole, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, and Aisha Rimi, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC).

The Vice President is expected to return to Abuja after concluding his engagements in Davos.
