Super Eagles edge Tunisia 3–2 in thrilling AFCON clash

Morocco – Nigeria’s Super Eagles claimed a dramatic 3–2 victory over Tunisia in a pulsating Group C match at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday, booking their spot in the Round of 16.
The match began at a high tempo, with both teams testing each other’s defenses. It was Victor Osimhen who broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, heading in a precise cross from Ademola Lookman to give Nigeria a halftime lead.

Early in the second half, Wilfred Ndidi extended Nigeria’s lead with a powerful header in the 50th minute, followed by Ademola Lookman himself scoring in the 67th minute after a slick passing move, putting the Super Eagles 3–0 up.
Tunisia responded strongly, with Montassar Talbi pulling one back in the 74th minute, and Ali Abdi converting a late penalty in the 87th minute to make it 3–2. Despite intense pressure in the closing minutes, Nigeria held on to secure the hard-fought victory.
The win not only strengthens Nigeria’s position at the top of Group C but also boosts team morale ahead of the knockout stage.

Speaking after the match, coach Éric Chelle praised the team’s resilience, unity, and composure under pressure, emphasizing the importance of tactical discipline in securing key victories on the international stage.
