Supreme Court Justice nominee collapses, dies after phone conversation
The Court of Appeal mourns the loss of Justice Joseph Ikyegh from its esteemed ranks at the Port Harcourt division, as reports indicate he tragically collapsed at his residence following a phone conversation.
At the age of 65, Justice Ikyegh, the Presiding Justice of the Port Harcourt Division, leaves behind a distinguished legacy of legal jurisprudence and public service, spanning over three decades.

Despite being among the initial nominees by the National Judicial Council for a Supreme Court Justice position, Justice Ikyegh, ranked 10th in the Court of Appeal hierarchy and set to retire in 2028, did not make the recent list of eleven recommended for appointment to the Apex Court.
Born in 1958 in Konshisha, Benue State, the late jurist was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1980. His career commenced at the Benue State High Court in 1991 before ascending to the Court of Appeal in July 2010.
Survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren, the legal community mourns the passing of a distinguished figure in the judiciary.
