Dr Salamat Ahuoiza Aliu is Nigeria's first female neurosurgeon. She was indigenously trained and also became the first female to be certified as a neurosurgeon in the whole of West Africa. Born in Ilorin, Kwara State (1980), she attended medical school at the University of Ilorin to get her first degree. She trained and specialized in neurosurgery in Usman Danfodiyo University under Prof BB Shehu. Salamat is an Ebira woman from Okene Local Government in Kogi State.
