Democracy Day: Nigerian gov't declares Monday public holiday The Nigerian Government has declared Monday, June 13, 2022 as a public holiday to mark this year’s Democracy Day.  This year's Democracy Day of June 12 falls on a Sunday, hence the declaration of the next day which is Monday 13th. This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday, June 9, 2022, by the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
