Taraba gov’t implements free education for primary, secondary pupils

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has declared free education for all pupils and students in public primary and secondary schools.

This initiative aims to alleviate the impact of the removal of subsidies on Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol.

The implementation of free education will commence from the next academic session, ensuring that families are relieved from the burden of educational expenses.

Governor Kefas, who had recently reduced university school fees by 50 percent, made this declaration during his assessment tour at Ebenezer Primary School in Wukari.

Emphasizing the government’s responsibility, the governor expressed his belief that students should not face any financial hurdles in accessing education.

The decision to implement free education not only fulfills a campaign promise but is also driven by the need to mitigate the hardships imposed by fuel subsidy removal.
