Taraba State Governor mandates secondary school teachers to hold master’s degree
In a recent announcement, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has revealed plans to raise the minimum academic qualifications for teachers in the state.
He stated that individuals wishing to teach in secondary schools must hold a master’s degree, while a university first degree will become the minimum academic qualification for primary school teachers.
During a dinner with journalists in Jalingo, Governor Kefas emphasized the importance of reintroducing History studies in both primary and secondary schools in the state to establish a strong educational foundation for accelerated development.
Furthermore, he stressed the significance of enhancing the quality of education, stating, “Our free education policy is not a joke, and anybody who stands in the way of achieving this will be dealt with decisively.”

The governor also urged journalists to monitor the implementation of the state government’s free education policy to ensure that all school administrators were aligning with the new education requirements.
