Ten Hag to continue as Man Utd manager

Erik ten Hag has been confirmed to continue as the head coach of Manchester United following a comprehensive performance assessment of his tenure by the Premier League team, British media confirmed on Tuesday.

There were speculations about Ten Hag’s future after a disappointing second season at Old Trafford, marked by a low eighth-place finish in the league and an early exit from the Champions League group stage.

However, the 54-year-old manager did secure a significant 2-1 victory over local rivals Manchester City in the FA Cup final in May, which significantly improved his prospects of retaining his position.

According to reports from Britain’s Press Association, United have reached a decision to retain Ten Hag as the coach following a thorough two-week evaluation of the 2023-24 season and the overall first-team operations.

As Ten Hag’s contract with Manchester United is set to end next summer, talks about extending his contract have allegedly commenced between the club and the former Ajax boss.

Before the season-ending FA Cup final, there were suggestions that Ten Hag would be dismissed regardless of the final result of the match.
