Terrorists have abducted the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman of Rogo Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Fanka, following an attack on his hometown, Beli.
The attackers reportedly stormed the community at about 10pm on Monday, shooting sporadically before taking the politician away.
A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told Daily Trust that efforts by residents to confront the attackers were unsuccessful.
The source said an Almajiri was hit by a bullet during the attack but survived and was receiving treatment.

According to the resident, the gunmen escaped towards Babbarika village and abandoned three motorcycles along the route.
On Tuesday morning, residents reportedly apprehended a Fulani man who was seen in Rogo town speaking Fulfulde and making inquiries about the abandoned motorcycles.
The man was subsequently handed over to the police, while his mobile phones were seized. Residents reportedly suspected that he could be one of the attackers or an informant.
The source said the suspect’s residence is in Beli, a community bordering Makarfi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

He added that communities including Bokoni and Zarewa had previously suffered similar attacks, but Monday night’s incident was reportedly the first time Beli had been directly targeted.
As of Tuesday, there had been no communication from the abductors concerning Fanka’s whereabouts or any demand for ransom, according to the source.
The latest abduction comes amid growing insecurity in rural communities across Kano State, with political and community leaders increasingly becoming targets.
Just a day before the incident, gunmen reportedly killed the APC chairman of Rantan village in Bebeji Local Government Area and abducted his wife alongside two other people.

Similarly, attackers on Saturday killed three people and kidnapped the Sarkin Noma of Kano in Chiromawa, Garun Malam Local Government Area. The traditional title holder was later rescued, according to the police.
The series of attacks has heightened concerns over the security situation in rural parts of the state.
Attempts to obtain the reaction of the Kano State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls to its Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, were not answered or returned.
