Thief steals deputy Governor’s convoy vehicle

A daring car thief has infiltrated the Kano Government House and made away with a Toyota Hilux belonging to the deputy governor’s convoy in the early hours of Monday.

According to DAILY NIGERIAN, the intruder gained access to the premises through Gate 4 and drove off with the vehicle around 5 a.m. CCTV footage later revealed that the thief exited through the main gate without raising suspicion.

Sources disclosed that the deputy governor’s office complex is usually patrolled only during working hours or when the deputy governor is present. The driver of the stolen vehicle, identified as Shafiu Sharp-Sharp, was reportedly interrogated and briefly detained as part of the ongoing investigation.

“The investigation has already commenced. The driver is being questioned, while the Chief Security Officer (CSO) is reviewing the CCTV footage. Security operatives have been alerted with the vehicle’s description to recover it and apprehend the suspect,” one source confirmed.

Efforts to reach the spokesman of Governor Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Dawakin Tofa, for comments were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages.
