Tinubu departs Lagos for Europe ahead of Abu Dhabi sustainability summit
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday departed Lagos for Europe as part of his end-of-year vacation, ahead of an official engagement in the United Arab Emirates.
The development was confirmed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. He disclosed that President Tinubu has been invited by the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to attend the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026).
The summit, scheduled to hold in Abu Dhabi early January, is a week-long global gathering that brings together leaders from government, business, and civil society to shape strategies for sustainable development.

According to the organisers, ADSW 2026 will be held under the theme “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” focusing on aligning innovation, finance, and human capital to drive sustainable progress worldwide.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the conclusion of the summit.
