Tinubu forwards three ambassadorial nominees to Senate for confirmation
President Bola Tinubu has submitted the names of three non-career ambassadorial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
The request was contained in a letter read during Wednesday’s plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. Tinubu stated that the appointments were made in line with Section 171 (1), (2)(c) and (4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).

The nominees are Kayode Are (Ogun), Aminu Dalhatu (Jigawa), and Ayodele Oke (Oyo).
The President urged the Senate to expedite their confirmation, after which they will be deployed to represent the country in foreign missions. The letter has been referred to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, with a directive to report back within one week.
The move follows nearly two years after Tinubu recalled all career and non-career Nigerian ambassadors in September 2023.
