Tinubu nominates Dr. Bernard Doro as Minister, forwards name to senate for confirmation

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau state as a Minister of the federal republic of Nigeria, forwarding his name to the Senate for screening and confirmation.
The development was announced in an official statement from the Presidency on Tuesday, signed by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
According to the statement, Dr. Doro’s nomination follows the elevation of Professor Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda the former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction who was elected as the National chairman of the all progressives congress (APC) in July.

If confirmed, this will be Dr. Doro’s first ministerial appointment, and his inclusion is expected to strengthen the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda, particularly in areas of human capital development, healthcare, and social welfare.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa local government area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro brings more than two decades of multidisciplinary experience in clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community development, both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.
A highly accomplished professional, he holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA specializing in IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in advanced clinical practice.
He is also a registered Independent prescriber and advanced clinical practitioner within the UK’s national health service (NHS), where he has worked across urgent care units, walk-in centres, general practice, and hospital departments.

Beyond his medical and academic achievements, Dr. Doro is known for his commitment to youth mentorship, community health advocacy, and social impact initiatives, both within the Nigerian diaspora and at the grassroots level in Plateau State.
Observers say his nomination underscores President Tinubu’s commitment to integrating technocrats and globally experienced professionals into government, in line with the Renewed hope agenda aimed at improving governance, service delivery, and policy execution.
The senate is expected to conduct the screening and confirmation process in the coming days. Once approved, Dr. Doro will be assigned a ministerial portfolio to be announced by the Presidency.
His appointment will also restore Plateau states representation in the federal executive council, which became vacant following Professor Yilwatda’s transition to party leadership.
