Tinubu orders 60% reduction in number of delegates for domestic, foreign trips
President Bola Tinubu has issued a directive for a substantial reduction in the number of delegates accompanying federal government officials on both domestic and international trips.
During a press briefing at the State House in Abuja, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, announced that the directive involves a 60% reduction in travel delegations across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), including the offices of the President, Vice President, and the First Lady.
Highlighted in the directive is the President’s decision to no longer allow large security delegations to accompany him on domestic travels, effectively reducing the financial burden associated with estacode and duty allowances.

Furthermore, the President has imposed limitations on the number of individuals allowed to travel with him on international trips—capping it at 20, and reducing it to five for the First Lady.
Similarly, the Vice President’s entourage for official international trips has been limited to five, and for the Wife of the Vice President, it is also five.
In terms of local trips, there is now a set limit of 25 staff members who may accompany the President within the country.
The Office of the First Lady and the Wife of the Vice President are restricted to 10 staff members for official trips within the country, while the Vice President’s entourage for local trips is limited to 15 staff members.
Additionally, ministers are now constrained to four persons for foreign trips, and heads of agencies may only travel with two persons.
Ngelale emphasised, “By this directive, every minister will be limited to having not more than four members of staff accompanying them to any event anywhere in the world. In the case of CEOs of agencies, they will be limited to two staff members accompanying them worldwide.”
