The committee constituted by Bauchi State Government on Bank Verification Number (BVN) of workers and pensioners has uncovered 20 dead pensioners on the government payroll.
Secretary of the committee Isyaka Tijjani, who disclosed this yesterday in a chat with newsmen in Bauchi, said in the course of the assignment, the committee verified a total of 14,632 workers from the local government areas out of which 13,285 were cleared while a total of 861 did not turn up for the exercise, and 380 could not meet up with the verification requirements.

He explained that the committee commenced verification both at the state and local government pensioners with pensioners in Zaki and Katagum LGAs in which out of about 600 pensioners verified, it discovered 20 names of dead pensioners still on the government payroll.
