Vigilantes kill 12-year-old boy while searching for suspect in Niger

A yet to be identified group of vigilantes has killed 12-year-old Adnan Bulana while in search of suspected miscreants in Soje A area in the Chanchaga local government area of Niger State.
According to reports, the vigilantes invaded the community in search of miscreants when they fired a gunshot that hit and tragically killed Adnan Bulana.
This led to a group of youths mobilising and attacking the vigilante office in Kpakungu area.
Police patrol teams quickly responded to the area, restoring order. Unfortunately, the victim, Adnan Bulana, was rushed to the General Hospital in Minna, where he was confirmed dead.
Earlier, on 31st March 2025, a violent altercation broke out among youths in Angwan-Roka, Maitumbi, resulting in one Safaryu Musa being stabbed in the stomach. He is currently receiving treatment at a nearby clinic.
Since the first day of the Eid-el-fitr celebration, thug-related activities have surged, and many communities are now living in fear due to escalating violence and unrest.
Confirming the incident, police public relations officer Niger State Command Wasiu Abiodun said “On 1st April, 2025 at about 1220hrs, report received indicated that a yet to be identified group/vigilante invaded Soje A community to arrest miscreants in the area, but in the process, the suspected miscreants attacked the said group and as a result, the group fired gunshots and unfortunately, stray pellets hit one Adnan Bulana 12yrs.
“Earlier on 31st March, 2025 at about 1200hrs, youths of Angwan-Roka, Maitumbi engaged themselves in a fight and as a result one Safaryu Musa of the same area was stabbed in the stomach. He was taken to a nearby clinic where he is receiving treatment.”
