WAEC resolves technical glitches, urges candidates to re-check WASSCE results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has confirmed that it has resolved technical glitches that impacted some results from the recently released 2025 WASSCE.

The council is now urging candidates who have already checked their scores to do so again.

In a statement released on Thursday, WAEC’s Public Affairs Department acknowledged that results for Mathematics, English Language, Biology, and Economics were affected by technical bugs.

These issues were discovered after the council received complaints from candidates and other stakeholders, which led to a comprehensive internal review.

WAEC attributed the error to the implementation of a new anti-malpractice innovation called paper serialisation. The council explained that while this method aligns with global best practices and is used by other national examination bodies, it inadvertently caused technical errors during the processing of results for the affected subjects.

Because of the issue, access to the 2025 WASSCE for School Candidates (SC) results was temporarily restricted on the council’s portal. WAEC has since corrected these errors and has advised all candidates to re-check their results after 24 hours.

The council offered a sincere apology to the public and all candidates for the inconvenience, thanking them for their patience and understanding.

WAEC reaffirmed its commitment to fairness and professionalism, vowing to continue providing quality service to its stakeholders.
