We’re repositioning PDP for progress of Nigeria, Nigerians – Jigawa PDP Chairman

Story from Dahiru SULEIMAN, Dutse

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has assured Nigerians of its resolve in salvaging the country from its “sorrow situation of absolute purposeful leadership to more dynamic, and democratic rule, composed with vision and articulated agenda of self-restoration of peace and hope for Nigerians”.

This statement was made by the Jigawa State PDP Chairman, Alhaji Babandi Gumel while speaking to newsmen on the platform of Media Engagement with the members of the Jigawa Correspondent Chapel of the NUJ.

He said, “It is a pity to note that most of the promises made by the present leadership of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress (APC) right from the beginning, from the top down to states was a mirage as most of the promises were yet to be redeemed by the APC due to its failed agenda to the extent that most Nigerians are convinced that APC was a colossal failure in failing to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the larger majority of Nigerians”.

The chairman also stated that part of the strategy of the opposition party was trying to put a united front in mending and resolving all impending internal squabbles, among others.

According to Gumel, most of the hardship experienced by Nigerians is the handiwork of the APC. Such calamities caused the country’s backwardness in different facets of human endeavours, be it the destruction of security, decadence of the social infrastructures or depreciation of Naira in the international market among other declines in other areas of our social strata.

“The choice lies in the hands of Nigerians to either vote for competency and hard work based on merit, not on the personality of a candidate. This is in order for us to forge ahead against re-electing abstract leaders without the capacity and exposure to lead going by the antecedents of what we are experiencing at the moment with our present leaders. As eight years’ performance of the present APC leadership was enough for the people or eligible voters to scout the difference in future general elections.

“In order to effect changes, we, the opposition, are determined to work towards putting additional effort in putting strong measures and strategies in place in our quest in confronting the ruling party APC in the 2023 general elections. This requires putting our house in order, our stand, commitments and formidable strategies in bringing the country back to its rightful positions.

“Also, we will work towards improving the general well being of Nigerians, restoration of public confidence, resuscitation of our collapsed infrastructure, rejuvenate our security networking to ensure steady protection of lives and property of the country’s citizenry for better living.

Coming down to his state Jigawa, Gumel commended Governor Badaru for honouring continuity in the completion of most of the inheritance project’s of the PDP led administration of former governor, Sule Lamido.

On his assessment of the ruling APC in his state, he said he’ll throw the challenge to the people of Jigawa State in making a comparison amongst governance of the PDP and the present one.

“If we have achieved, the people are in a better position to access. Likewise, if we failed, compare it to what was obtainable now on ground.
