Not fewer than 10 suspects, engaged in kidnapping and supply of assorted arms and ammunition have been arrested in Ado Local Government Area and neighbouring towns.

The arrest was made by a combined team of Army Officers, under the Operation Whirlstroke and Puff Adder, Special Anti Robbery Squad of the Nigerian Police and the Ado Homeland Defence Volunteers following tip-off given by informants under the cover of the Whistle Blower Policy declared by the Local Government Chairman, James Oche.

The suspects who were arrested between Wednesday and Thursday were first taken to the Area Command in Otukpo, and have since been moved to the Benue State Criminal Investigation Department of the Police Headquarters, Makurdi, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Eye witness report says, the combined team of Security officers having gathered intelligence, took the suspects unaware at different locations and some were nabbed with credible evidence that will aid police investigation.

One of the suspects was arrested while trying to lodge his share of money from a successful kidnap deal into his bank account through a POS transaction. Some of the suspects are at large and the team is intensifying efforts to catch up with them.

Reacting to the development, Ado Local Government Chairman said that it is a welcome development contrary to the feelings that the policy was a political smokescreen; that in less than 48 hours after declaring the policy it had started yielding results.

Mr Oche charged the people to keep up with the good work of availing undercover information about criminals and their hideouts, promising utmost confidentiality and due reward for whistleblowers.

He gave a note of warning that all criminal elements should surrender themselves to security operatives or face tough times since information about them was already handy.
