Woman avoids jail in Vegas stabbing case, citing previous trauma as cause
Nika Nikoubin, the 22-year-old woman who stabbed her lover during a sexual encounter in a Las Vegas hotel room as an act of revenge for a US drone strike, has managed to avoid jail time.
She attributes her violent actions to a previous rape experience, which deeply impacted her mental health.

Appearing at the Eighth Judicial District Court in Clark County, Nevada, on Wednesday, Nikoubin expressed her awareness of the gravity of her actions and the consequences they carry. Despite the severity of her crime, she was sentenced to a maximum of 36 months probation.
During her court appearance on May 10, Nikoubin pleaded guilty to two counts of False Imprisonment with Use of a Deadly Weapon. In her sentencing hearing, she presented a heartfelt four-page testimony, pleading for probation and disclosing the traumatic experience of being raped during her time in college.
She shared, “I was raped when I was 18 years old by another student. At the time, I did not fully realize the impact that this experience had on me, and my mental health deteriorated.” Nikoubin revealed that she had been admitted to a mental health facility for ten days prior to her arrest.
She was diagnosed with severe depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder, which deeply shook her. Nikoubin admitted her initial denial of these diagnoses but acknowledged the truth behind them.
The incident occurred in March 2022 when Nikoubin blindfolded her Plenty of Fish date, retrieved a knife from her purse, and stabbed him twice in the neck.
She claimed it was in retaliation for former President Donald Trump’s order to assassinate Iranian General Qasem Soleimani with a drone strike.
Henderson police promptly arrested Nikoubin at the Sunset Station hotel following the stabbing. She described her arrest as a wake-up call and expressed her desire to be granted leniency while under the close supervision of her committed parents, who intend to support her through this difficult time.
