Worker killed by roller machine at Dangote Cement — Police

A casual worker, Dare Adeleke, died in an industrial accident at Maigida Company, a subsidiary of Dangote Cement in Ibese, Ogun State.

According to Ogun State Police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred while Adeleke was cleaning limestone materials. His shovel reportedly got caught in the roller belt, pulling him into the crusher and causing fatal injuries.

Adeleke was quickly rescued and taken to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead by doctors.

The incident was reported at the Ibese police post by security guard Mohammed Muktar. The deceased, Dare Adeleke, a casual worker at Maigida Company under Dangote Cement, was cleaning limestone beneath a rolling conveyor belt when his shovel accidentally contacted the roller, resulting in the fatal accident.

Adeleke was rushed to Jajo Clinic, the factory’s onsite hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the doctor. His body has been transferred to the mortuary at Ilaro State Hospital for an autopsy. Efforts are underway to locate his family.

This follows a similar incident at the cement factory on October 28, 2024, when another worker, Taoreed Okanlawon, was killed after being run over by one of the company’s buses.
