Yobe CP adopts community policing to end crime

The Commissioner of Police, Yahaya Sahabu Abubakar, has said that the police force is determined to end criminal activities in Yobe State.

He solicited for the support and cooperation of the community members, to enhance peaceful co-existence in Yobe State, through the implementation of a Community Policing approach.

He made the appeal during a dialogue with the executives of the Police Community Relation Committee at the Police Command Headquarters Damaturu on Tuesday.

He urged them to partner with the police always in safeguarding the lives and properties of the State citizens.

The Commissioner of Police also read out the guarding principles of Community Policing and also urged them to always see themselves as a bridge between the police and the general public in order to prevent the breakdown of law and order in ensuring public safety and security.

He further beckoned on citizens of the state to take security as everybody’s business and not to leave it for the police or other sisters Security Agencies alone.

The police can only maintain adequate security but people should Police themselves before the Police can queue adequately.

He appealed on the provision of useful information to the Police on any suspicious movements in the community.
