Yobe Information Commissioner commends Neptune Prime on professionalism, gender balance
In a gesture highlighting the significance of media-government relations, Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information, and Culture of Yobe State, Hon. Abdullahi Bego paid a visit to Neptune media office in Abuja.
The purpose of the visit was to recognise the media organisation’s role in responsible journalism and honor the commendable accomplishments of its staff.
Hon. Bego who was a Former Director of Press Affairs to the Late Governor Mamman B. Ali is a seasoned media practitioner. In 2009 following the death of Mamman B. Ali, Governor Gaidam retained him as his spokesperson and, in 2011, following the elections of that year, elevated him to the position of Special Adviser on Press Affairs.
In 2015, Bego became Director General for Press Affairs following Governor Gaidam’s election to a second and final term in office. In 2019, Bego continued as Director General for Press Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni for ten months before he was appointed as Hon. Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information and Culture.

In October 2021, Governor Buni created the Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment and Employment Generation and made Bego the pioneer commissioner in that ministry.
Commissioner Bego, addressed the staff of Neptune Prime, encouraging them to continue their exemplary work and put in their best efforts. Emphasizing the importance of professionalism and excellence in news reporting, he commended Neptune Prime for its commitment to unbiased and accurate coverage.
The Commissioner expressed his belief in the power of the media to hold government officials accountable and keep the public well-informed.
He also disclosed his admiration for the gender balance and inclusiveness of youth within the ranks of Neptune Prime Media House. Impressed by the organisation’s commitment to diversity, equal opportunities, and the representation of underrepresented groups, Bego acknowledged the importance of these initiatives in fostering a vibrant and inclusive media landscape.
He praised Neptune Prime for creating an environment that encourages different perspectives and nurtures emerging talents.
In response, Dr. Hassan Gimba, the CEO of Neptune Prime Media House, commended Commissioner Bego for his remarkable achievements and congratulated him on his reappointment as Commissioner of Home Affairs, Information, and Culture.
Dr. Gimba expressed gratitude for the Commissioner’s visit, underscoring the significance of the government’s engagement with the media and recognising the crucial role media organisations play in fostering transparent governance.
