Yobe procures 60 Tricycle ambulances to enhance emergency response

In order to reduce maternal-child mortality rate in the rural communities, Yobe State government has procured additional 60 Tricycle Ambulances to enhance emergency referrals and transport schemes at the cost of N179,903,700.00.

The Commissioner of Yobe State Ministry of Health and Human Services, Dr Mohammed Lawan Gana disclosed this during the second day of the first ministerial briefing to mark the second anniversary of Governor Mai Mala Buni held on Wednesday at the NUJ Secretariat, Damaturu amid strict Covid-19 preventive measures.

He said “in order to ensure all facilities both public and private provide high-quality services in safe environments, a committee on standards, quality and regulations was constituted.

“Marked improvements have been recorded in quality of services and responsiveness of health workers in the pilot facilities of Yobe State Specialist Hospital, Damaturu, Yobe State University Teaching Hospital and Women and Children Hospital”.

“His Excellency’s stewardship role and policies such as one functional and standard Primary Health Care systems in each ward, one General Hospital in each Local Government Area headquarters, the policy of employment of indigenous health workers, provision of incentives during their training”.

“Selection of committed professionals to man the affairs of the health sector with commiserate authority”.
