Youths in Lagos stop kidnap attempt, overpower kidnappers

Some youths have successfully thwarted an attempted kidnapping in Lagos State.

According to newsmen, the suspects—Taiwo Olayinka, Azeez Sodiq, and Saheed Moonstruck—allegedly attempted to abduct a car dealer in Ebute, Ikorodu Local Government Area, on Tuesday, August 20.

Confirming the incident and arrests via his official X account, Command PPRO Benjamin Hundeyin noted that the police acted swiftly after a viral video surfaced on X.

The video shows the suspects, who were stripped and beaten by youths who apprehended them following the failed kidnapping attempt, being repeatedly questioned.

“Three suspects—Taiwo Olayinka, 30, Azeez Sodiq, 33, and Saheed Moonstruck, 23—have been in our custody since yesterday, shortly after the incident. Efforts are underway to arrest the remaining two suspects who escaped. Meanwhile, the investigation has begun,” Hundeyin said.

He also noted that further investigations are ongoing and added, “The three arrested are suspected of theft or kidnapping; the investigation will determine which.”
