FG seeks enhanced relationships with foreign partners to improve tax administration

Muhammad Nami, the Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has expressed Nigeria’s interest in establishing stronger relationships with foreign partners to improve tax administration.

Johannes Wojuola, Mr Nami’s Special Assistant on Media and Communication disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Mr Nami, who is also the President of the Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators, recently visited the Capital Area Transportation Authority (CATA) secretariat in the UK’s Treasury House for a meeting on tax administration.

During the meeting, he and his team were briefed on the governance structure of CATA and the current efforts by the association to serve the common interest of member nations.

The statement said Mr Nami held a bilateral meeting with Antonia Strachey of the Public Finance and Tax Department, UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), on issues of mutual benefit to the revenue authorities of both countries.

The meeting was attended by the UK Government Tax Authority representatives, including Fiona Hay, Head, Capacity Building and International Relations, Mahtab Ha.
