17-year-old PoS sales girl raped to death on father’s farm

Story by Hamzat IBRAHIM

A 17-year-old student and PoS sales girl was raped and murdered on her father’s farmland in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The crime took place over the weekend in Mile 6, near Ogun State Television.

The victim, Habeebah Akinsanya, was reported missing by her father, Akinsanya Aremu, a senior officer with the So Safe Corps.

He reported her kidnapping at Kemta Police Station while she was working at a POS stand for her sister.

Aremu initially paid a ransom of N1,000,000 to the alleged kidnappers, but Habeebah was found dead on Sunday.

Divisional Police Officer CSP Olawale Famobuwa confirmed the case, explaining that Aremu reported Habeebah missing on Friday night.

On Saturday, after ransom demands were made, Aremu paid N30,000 into a Moniepoint account, which police hoped would aid in tracking the perpetrators.

Famobuwa stated that only N30,000 was paid, not N1,000,000, and the police had a receipt to facilitate the tracking.

The search led to Oke Egunya, but the body was later discovered on the farm. It was confirmed that Habeebah had been raped before being killed.

A resident reported seeing a farm worker, now a prime suspect, entered the bush with Habeebah but did not return.

The eyewitness said the victim joined the worker after he went into the farm.

The suspect has since fled.
