2018 AYG: Team Nigeria ends day 3 with 36 medals

The Nigeria 2018 AYG raised its medals tally to 36 which include 16 Gold medals, 8 Silver medals and 12 Bronze medals to place second behind Egypt after the end of Day three events.
Team Nigeria participated with 280 athletes representing the country in 24 different games.
The third edition of the African Youth Games kicked off on Wednesday July 18 with an Opening Ceremony held in Algiers.
Nigeria weightlifting team won 12 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze medals at the end of the event.
The young judokas secured 2 silver and 5 bronze while the Taekwondo team got 4 bronze medals.
Nigeria are through to the Semifinals of the indoor volleyball event after defeating Gambia 3-0 (25-15, 25-19, 27-25) to lead the group B.
In the basketball event, Nigeria faces Egypt in the girls Semi finals after beating Algeria and Mali; while in the boy’s semi finals, Nigeria will face Mali.
In the men’s handball event. Nigeria beat Angola by 38-29 goals and the game against Morocco is currently on-going.
Nigeria beat Gambia by 2-0 in the female beach Volleyball at the ongoing Africa Youth Games in Algiers, Algeria
In the boys’ hockey event, Nigeria lost 0-2 to Zambia after full time.
A total of 30 sports feature on the programme for the Games, due to take place until July 28.
