Dangote keen on ‘owning’ Arsenal by 2020

Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, says he is gunning for ownership of English club Arsenal – even if it takes him two more years and someone else gets there first.
Dangote, a business mogul – said to be worth in excess of £10.4b – says he has his heart set on becoming the club’s new owner.
Unai Emery believes Ivan Gazidis remains committed to Arsenal despite reports linking the chief executive with AC Milan.
On Tuesday fans’ fears were growing that Arsenal would be run from America if Alisher Usmanov sells his stake to US majority shareholder Stan Kroenke.
It appears to be turmoil behind the scenes at Arsenal but Dangote is desperate to make things better.
Currently at number 66 on Forbes Magazine’s list of the most powerful people in 2018, the mega-rich African has been linked with a takeover since 2010.
The 61-year-old said: “We will go after Arsenal from 2020… even if somebody buys, we will still go after it.”
When talking about the majority shareholders in August, Dangote said: “If they get the right offer, I’m sure they would walk away.
Someone will give them an offer that will make them seriously consider walking away.
“And when we finish the refinery, I think we will be in a position to do that.”
