His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni has just met with the Minister of Transportation Rotimi Ameachi and the Managing Director of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council Hassan Bello to advance effort to commence the construction of the Potiskum Truck Transit Park otherwise known as the Potiskum Trailer Park.

The meeting took place in Abuja some moments ago.

The Potiskum Truck Transit Park was conceived by the Buni administration to provide a modern hub for the thriving trailer transportation business in Potiskum and environs and standardize and enhance the trucking value chain in the state.

The governor laid the foundation stone for the construction of the Park on 4th September 2919 in partnership with the Nigerian Shippers’ Council.

Under the partnership, the Shippers’ Council would spearhead the effort to attract and engage investors in establishing the Park with all its attendant services.

Projected to create more than 5000 direct jobs, the Potiskum Trailer Park would have hotels, fuel dispensing stations, shops, a recreational area, and a mechanics’ village, amongst others.

“We also reckoned that the Potiskum Truck Transit Park is going to support up to 5000 direct jobs. These jobs and their positive spin-offs will certainly transform wealth creation In Yobe State and improve the economy overall”, Governor Buni said at the flagging off of the Park’s construction.

In their meeting today, Governor Buni, Minister Ameachi and the Shippers’ Council boss Hassan Bello reviewed the progress made in the Park’s construction partnership and discussed timelines for when construction work could begin.
