An auxiliary nurse, known as Mrs Samira Abubakar, has been arrested by the Kano State Private Health Institutions Management Agency (PHIMA) for allegedly parading herself as a qualified doctor at a private maternity home in Kano.
Mrs Abubakar was said to be performing gynaecological procedures and other activities.
The Executive Secretary Private Health Institutions Management Agency, Dr Usman Tijjani Aliyu who led the joint operation with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of Mohammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, reviewed to reporters that the suspect charged her victims N150,000 for a Caesarian Section.
“Our continued routine inspections and supervision to checkmate illegal activities of private health institutions in the state and other illegal practices have today led to the apprehension of a fake medical doctor”, Dr Usman said.
