An associated case with coronavirus in Kano toward the beginning of today at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) Kano has been denied.

Neptune Prime gathered that Air Peace arrived in Kano this morning from Lagos with a suspected case of COVID-19 on board but the pilot refused to allow the passengers disembark on getting to the airport.

It was said that the pilot of the plane before landing notified the airport of a sick passenger on board. Afterwards upon landing the patient was said to have vomited.

He was later rushed to hospital by the medical team at the airport.

However, reacting to the situation, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor of Kano State, Salihu Tanko A.K.A Peacock wrote on his Tweeter page:

“The video of Air Peace that happened earlier in Kano is NOT a case of #COVID-19. The pilot refused to open the doors when the plane landed after a passenger was reported to be vomiting, till a team of CDC experts came & examined the person & found out that its a case of malaria.

“The CDC team also took precautionary measures by spraying passengers with disinfectants and also the entire plane, they equally took down all the details of the passengers in case of any issue that might arise afterwards. Kano is still free from #COVID-19 but pls #StayAtHome, the tweet said.

Also reacting to the situation, the Co-Chair, Kano State Task Force on COVID-19, Prof. Abdul Razak Habib said the patient is not a suspected case as a preliminary test run on the patient was negative and he does not have the symptoms of COVID-19.

“The case is a young man of 17-year-old and a first-timer boarding aircraft and developed phobia,” Prof. Habib said.
