COVID-19: Yobe disinfects state

The Yobe State Governor Honourable Mai Mala Buni has today flagged-off fumigation and disinfection exercise of public places, streets and settlements with Chlorine Solution as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus in the state.
According to a press release by Hussaini Mai Sulej, the press secretary to the Yobe State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ido Barde Gubana, the flag-off event took place at the IBB State Secretariat, Damaturu, the state capital.
The statement further said the Governor was represented by the Deputy, who also doubles as the Chairman of the Committee on Prevention and Control  of COVID -19 in the State.
Alhaji Gubana disclosed that although Yobe did not record  any confirmed case of COVID 19, government found it necessary to take all necessary preventive measures to ensure that the spread of the virus is curtailed.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner of Environment and Chairman Sub-Committee on the disinfection exercise, Hon. Sidi Yakubu Karasuwa, informed the committee chairman that the importance of the exercise is to disinfect and decontaminate the whole state to prevent possible outbreak and spread of the virus and other infectious diseases.
The Commissioner said that his committee is using Twenty Seven (27) fire fighting trucks with Chlorine Solution to spray public places and structures.
The exercise, according to the commissioner, signifies the commencement of the disinfection exercise across the seventeen local governments in the state.
