The aggrieved members of a social media forum popularly known as ‘Muryar Talakawa’ in Kebbi State has accused the leadership of the forum of diverting N2million palliative meant for the members to ease their plights during the period of lockdown being that the members of the forum have been officially engaged for public enlightenment on the covid-19 pandemic in the state. The aggrieved members have described the incidence as a clear deceit.
The members have recently stormed the social media platforms expressing their anger over matter. They also challenged those who were saddled with the responsibility of ‘sharing the cake’ to appear publicly and explain how the money was shared.
Having felt the pressure mounted, those who are responsible for sharing the N2million, according to some of the accused leaders, the money was shared only among those who have fully and truly participated in the fight against the covid-19 pandemic through the social media.
Despite the pressure, none of the accused members has clearly defended himself against the allegation, but a Senior Special Assistant to Kebbi State governor on new media, Aliyu Bandado, has made a post through social media begging the aggrieved members to forgive and forget the matter.
However, one of the enlisted beneficiaries, who claimed to have received N20,000 in cash, has given insight on how the N2million was shared and it indicates that the total amount claimed to have been shared is not even up to 1m talk less of N2m.
While reacting to the claims through social media, those whose names appeared on the list as the said beneficiaries of N2million have denied receiving anything from the palliatives and even condemned the accused leaders for publishing their names on the doctored list. Some others have acknowledged receiving only N5,000 contrary to the said N30,000 or N20,000 on the list.
Meanwhile, all the phone numbers of the accused persons have been turned off, with no access to them for comments over the incidence.
