Story from Kenneth AFOR, Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has disclosed that nobody ordered the removal of the security cameras at the Lekki Toll Gate plaza as widely speculated.

He added that the removal of the cameras was the sole decision of the operators of the toll plaza, adding that he had nothing to do with ordering the removal of cameras at the tollgate, also the switching off the lights was due to announcement of the imposed curfew which was carried out by the company.

He disclosed this on Thursday morning via a live interview on Arise News.

He further explained that the said cameras shown on social media were not security cameras rather they were motion-censored cameras meant for vehicles that would give signals for cars to wait or proceed adding that the security cameras are still at the toll gate plaza in which it would aid the state when investigation commences.

Also, he hinted that he will get in touch with the leadership of the Nigeria army to investigate and unravel the mystery behind the deployment of the uniformed men who stormed the toll gate and opened fire on the protesters on Tuesday night.
