Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has felicitated with Nigerlites, particularly the Christian faithful on the annual Christmas celebration which commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.

The Governor in a Christmas message through his Chief Press Secretary, Mary Noel Berje said that the yuletide provides yet another glorious time and opportunity for sober reflection on the miraculous birth of Christ and the divine salvation of mankind which it characterises.

He admonished Christians to emulate the exemplary teachings and lifestyle of Jesus Christ who in his lifetime preached and practised love, peace, forgiveness, compassion and unity amongst all humans.

“It is obvious that this year’s Christmas has come with some economic challenges precipitated by the resurgence of COVID-19.

“Nonetheless, I urge you all to show compassion, love and generosity to the less privileged, the displaced and extend hands of unity among people of other faith, ethnic group and socio-cultural divides,” the Governor said.

Governor Sani Bello used the opportunity to remind the people of the state on the resurgence of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic and warned against flouting of the NCDC’s protocols and containment measures of regular hand washing with soap and sanitiser, use of face mask and physical distancing especially during the festive season.

“We have been alerted on the deadly nature of the second wave of the pandemic, we must tread cautiously and apply every precautionary and containment measure to avoid another round of lockdown and its accompanying consequences”.

On the security situation in the State, Governor Sani Bello who acknowledged the immense sacrifices being made by the security agencies and the vigilantes in the fight against banditry, kidnapping and cattle rustling, renewed his administration’s commitment to the partnership.

“We have committed time and enormous resources in the joint military action against these criminal elements, we’ll not relent in our resolve because the security of lives and property of our people is sacrosanct and non-negotiable”.

While wishing Christians a joyous Christmas celebration, Governor Sani Bello assured Nigerlites that despite the recession occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, his administration remains focused on delivering service to the people.
