The secretariat of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) has told the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello that the COVID-19 is real and must be tackled.

It can be recalled that Governor Bello earlier this week questioned the authenticity of the Coronavirus vaccine set to roll out January 2021 to curb the increasing number of the virus in Nigeria according to the federal government.

The Governor in a video condemned the use of the vaccines claiming that it is meant to kill people.

Responding to the claims of the Kogi State Governor about the vaccines, NGF said that the pandemic is real and, therefore, Nigerians deserve the vaccine.

The Chairman of the forum, Dr Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State stated that the primary concern of the governors at the moment is how to contain the hesitancy of Nigerians to the vaccines.

He said during the governors’ last meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari they made it clear to the President that there is the need to create public awareness on how to contain the rising risk of the pandemic.

Fayemi said, “We told the President that there is the need to go beyond political leadership and include traditional rulers, religious leaders and others in the entertainment sector and others concerned to spread the awareness and importance of the vaccines.

”We follow science and the preponderance of evidence …COVID-19 is real and is no respecter of any individual or persons.”
