Army to join forces with Tchadian, Cameroonian, Nigerien counterparts to end war against Boko Haram – General Attahiru

The new Chief of Army Staff, Major General Ibrahim Attahiru has assured that the war against Boko Haram insurgency, as well as other security challenges in the country, would soon be a thing of the past.

Speaking in an interview with journalists in Ngamdu at the Army Super Camp 1, the COAS said ” we are working in collaboration with our Tchadian, Cameroonian and Niger counterparts to see that we end Boko Haram insurgency in no distance time”

General Attahiru said, “the entire process, when you took over a command, to visit troops and I was briefed by their commanders and they have told me their problem, We will go back and articulate and address these problems”.

While addressing the troops secretly at the Nigerian Army Super Camp 1 Ngamdu and the headquarters of the Theater Command Operation be Lafiya Dole, General Attaihiru said they were happy with what they were doing and that the Army is aware of their problems and are working had to address them.

“We are bringing out things as we want to leverage on the successes being recorded under Operation Tura Takai Bango and ensure the total annihilation of Boko Haram in Nigeria”, he maintained.

To achieve this, Attahiru hinted that the Army is working hand in gloves with the Republic of Cameroon to annihilate terrorists in Nigeria.

“It is not just in the Northeast theatre, we are equally ensuring that our operations are effective in other parts of Nigeria. We will ensure that people do their work properly so that the insecurity will be a thing of the past”,

He said “I am here to pay you a special thanks, visit Mr President and the Commander in Chief is happy with you and he has sent you his greetings. We are proud of you. I know you have pushed this bagger far, you will continue to do the same subsequently until we end this war”

The COAS commended troops for their loyalty and doggedness in the ongoing fight against insurgency in the North East and assured troops of his support and robust welfare packages to boost their morale as they continue the war against insurgency.

General Attahiru said,” in the next couple of weeks or days you will receive my command philosophy that direct you on how we are going to run a Nigerian Army, a proud Army, a professional Army An Army committed to making Nigerian proud that they indeed have an Army”.

” I have met your commanders and I have been briefed this afternoon, about lack of, kits your problems, issues of equipment we are making tremendous efforts to addressing them in a couple of weeks we are going to address them.

Earlier, while addressing the over 200 troops at the Special Super Camp, the Army Chief informed them that in the next couple of months, a standard rotation plan will be unveiled in a move to address the issue of overstay in the mission area.

“The issue of overstay in the mission has been a major problem. Be rest assured that in the next couple of months, we will have a standard rotation plan, that most of you will have to leave the theatre and be replaced by some other soldiers so that we can continue the war.

“I see this war ending soon so that all of us can go back and stay with our families,” Attahiru assured.
