Barely days after invading and holding Geidam, a local government headquarter in Yobe State, for over 72 hours, attacking a military formation in Mainok, Borno State, killing a number of soldiers including their commanding officer, Boko Haram insurgents have again attacked Kanamma, headquarter of Yunusari Local Government of Yobe State this night.

Dungus Abdulkarim, Police Assistant Superintendent and Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Yobe Police Command, Damaturu, confirmed to newsmen of the attack in a telephone conversation.

According to him “there was a Boko Haram insurgents’ attack on Kanamma, unfortunately, we have lost contact with our people there due to the absence of mobile network in the area, we will update you when we reach out to them”.

However, Malam Abdullahi Madu, a resident who escaped from the town, confirmed to Neptune Prime that the insurgents arrived in a number of Hilux cars shooting sporadically but that the army were battling to repel them as at the time he escaped.

Another indigene of the local government who resides in Damaturu, the state capital, though informed our reporter that “the army have really tried because they have repelled them”.
