The Yobe State Government, Saturday donated N50 million at the appeal fundraising of the Pataskum emirate central mosque project.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor Mai Mala Buni said, “I want to seize this opportunity on behalf of the entire Yobe state government, to donate N50 million.

I also wish to donate another N10 million on behalf of one of my close associates,” he said.
Buni also encouraged other people to make their donations either in cash or in-kind according to individual capabilities and incomes.
He thanked the Chairman of the committee, Dr Bulama Gubiyo, the Chief launcher, Alhaji Auwal Abdullahi and other guests for their contribution and dedication.
Abdullahi had earlier donated N50 million and enjoined guests at the occasion to avoid fake promises.
He said it was better to make little but genuine donations than empty pledges.
In his part, Ahmed Lawan, the Senate President, donated N20 million and another N7 million on behalf of three other senators.
Other people who sent their donations include Adamu Aleiru, former governor of Kebbi State, the sum of N5 million; Sen. Ibrahim Geidam, N10 million; Alhaji Aliko Dangote, N10 million; Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff, N10 million among others.
Meanwhile, Governor Mai Mala Buni inspected the ongoing construction of the Potiskum trailer transit park in order to assess the quality and speed of work on the project.
The Governor was taken around the project by the state Commissioner for Commerce and Tourism, Alhaji Barma Shettima.
While fielding questions from newsmen, the governor expressed satisfaction with the quality and pace of work on the project.
He explained that he was satisfied with the contractors as they are adhering to the contractual agreements and specifications.
“The quality of work up to this moment is very excellent and we expect them to maintain the standard for the government to have value for its money.
“This project is very dear to this government because it is providing 5,000 direct employment opportunities to our people with a chain value and other indirect employment opportunities.
“Government would live up to its obligations to ensure timely completion of the project for the benefit of our people,” Governor Buni said.
