Teema Makamashi has been in Kannywood for more than 10 years but she only got her breakthrough when she teamed up with the FKD Production crew owned by King of Kannywood, Ali Nuhu. Since then, she has been loyal to the group and her fortune and businesses are also flourishing on a daily basis.
Teema Makamashi, a divorcee and also a social commentator, is one woman that never hides her feelings, she always calls a spade, a spade. Last week in an interview with this robust and beautiful Fulani woman she told Neptune Prime’s corespondent in Kano, Saleh Inuwa about her life, challenges, future plans and why she never liked President Muhammadu Buhari politically but will always prefer to vote for Wazirin Adamawa Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Neptune Prime: Teema, it seems you are not watching your weight these days, you are growing fatter by the day and it’s affecting your beauty?
Teema: My brother, just tell me what is on your mind, whether am fat or slim, I am always beautiful and cute, in any case, I have even reduced my weight recently and I will continue exercising so that I will turn to under 18!
NP: You have never been a member of the Kannywood team that has been campaigning for Buhari since 2015. Why do you decide to be a Lone Ranger?
Teema: I have never liked Buhari politically because he is very deceptive, look at how the entire north has been voting for him since he joined politics in 2003, but tell me, what is our gain today, insecurity, kidnapping, rape, hunger, starvation, inflation, broken marriages, lack of medical facilities, lack of opportunities to perform hajj because of high cost, massive corruption in the government, killings here and there, so tell me, what is the gain in voting for this man, I have been voting Atiku and I will continue voting for him.
NP: You always call a spade, a spade, don’t you fear for your life?
Teema: I was married before and have a son, so at my age, if I die, I have no regrets. There are those that died right from labour room, remember, two years ago, I was in the social media exposing some dubious casanovas that chase us in the night, only to be insulting us during day time, that video nearly caused me serious problem but I will continue to speak my mind.
NP: So, do you really mean the Buhari that some northerners almost worship politically is not popular in your political dictionary?
Teema: Have you ever had of Minister’s son, Governor’s son, Ambassador’s son, General’s son or the President’s son being kidnapped or raped? Even if they are going shopping, they go with hundreds of security, it is we the poor that are always left for kidnappers to kidnap or kill us. Today, after six years in office, Buhari has no single project in the north even the Abuja, Kano Roads, has become a death trap, they told us that they will join Nguru, Kano, Maiduguri, Kaduna, Port-Harcourt and Lagos railroad. Where are we today? And its only two years left for this government to go. So why should you even ask a person like me to like such government headed by Buhari?
NP: Who is your mentor in Kannywood and though you are matured woman, you seemed to be rough with your life?
Teema: Mentor, Ali Nuhu, godfather, Ali Nuhu, Best Producer, Ali Nuhu, Best Director, Ali Nuhu, family friend and brother, Ali Nuhu, and it will continue to be Ali Nuhu. About whether I am rough or “Banda Kunya”(shameless) my brother, allow me to enjoy my life, after all, paradise is meant for those that Allah chooses to enter.
