College of Administration Management and Technology (CAMTECH) Potiskum in Yobe State has matriculated 1000 newly admitted Diploma and Higher National Diploma (HND) Students into various courses of the institution.
Rector of CAMTECH, Ibrahim Bomai Zarma congratulated the newly admitted students on having merited the admission to pursue their studies in the college.
While delivering his address at the matriculation ceremony, Zarma urge the incoming students to take their studies seriously.
“Well done. It is not all who applied that got admission” this is just the beginning of your academic journey, it is now incumbent on you to prove that you deserve your admission into this institution, for your performance will determine what the future will hold for you.
Some of you will be here for four semesters, which is the equivalent of two years, while others who decided not to read hard may probably stay longer or risk expulsion, which we do not wish any one of you to be in that category”.
The Rector further advices “You are here for a purpose, to obtain National Diploma (ND)/Higher National Diploma HND. Be serious and obtain what brought you. Avoid activities that are unacceptable, and can lead to your expulsion/suspension from the College”.
Ibrahim Bomai Zarma further encourage the students to be good ambassadors and face the business that brought them to the institution,
By avoiding all illegal activities that are capable of jeopardizing their studies, vices like examination malpractice, disobedience to constituted authorities, Fighting/sexual harassment, cultism among others should be shunned. He reiterated.
“The students handbook contains all the rules and regulations governing your stay and conduct in the College, so that both the College and your parents can be proud of you. You are the future leaders we need you to be of good, both in character and learning, so you can have a sound education”.
He said “At our own end, as the College Administrators, we shall do our best to facilitate your stay in the College and make your learning easier. It is for this reason that we are at all times helping our lecturers upgrade their qualifications and also providing necessary facilities like furniture and boreholes to ensure regular water supply”. Zarma said.
The rector assured the students that the college administration will put in their best efforts to make their learning process smooth and stress free.
The Rector also used the opportunity on behalf of the College administration to acknowledge the inestimable efforts of the Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni for his great contribution to education in the state.
He further thanked the governor for upgrading the institution both physically and academically.
He said, “we thank him very much”.
“To begin with, new structures have been put in place, classrooms have been built, the lecture theatre in which this occassion is taking place and will comfortably accommodate the ever-growing number of students in the College.
All these facilities have been provided to propel the College into the 21st Century world class institution, by the Buni administration.
I am happy to inform you of an amendment to the law that established the College as a result of which the name of the institution has been changed to College of Administration, Management and Technology (CAMTECH).”
“This has automatically upgraded the College to Polytechnic status and following this development, new courses and departments have been created to give our students a wide range of courses to choose from in their academic pursuits”.
“Similarly, the College wishes to extend our gratitude to the Commissioner in charge of the ministry of Higher Education. Professor Mohammed Munkaila for his efforts in liaising favorably between the government and the institution, where by essential projects are realized and programmes implemented.
“Thank you Honourable Commissioner. We are particularly grateful to our Governing Council members which has contributed in no small measure to easing the administrative function of management especially our Chairman”.
Finally, our profound indebtedness to all the security agencies operating in the state, who work hard round the clock to ensure the safety of all Yobe citizens, hence creating a comfortable learning environments for both staff and students.
Zarma extends more appreciation to other security outfits operating in the state “We especially thank the Police, Military and Civil Defence, also the DSS who come round from time to time, as well as those who do their work incognito.
May the Almighty continue to protect you and all of us”.
