The leadership of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) have complained to the Taraba State Government about the recent looting of relief materials for flood victims in the state by some hoodlums.
This was revealed by the agency’s leadership during an interactive session with DAILY POST in Jalingo, the Taraba state capital.
NEMA cautioned the government about the way and manner the hoodlums attacked and loot almost all the supplies meant for the victims and warn that failure to address the prevailing insecurity in the state, may hinder further assistance from the agency to the Taraba state citizens.

NEMA expressed shock and frowns at the way their efforts to access the damage done by the flood and how to offer assistance was abruptly disrupted and got hijacked by hoodlums in the state.
It further narrated how the hoodlums, targeted and barred NEMA from distributing the relief materials meant for persons seriously affected by the disaster which ravaged the Jalingo metropolis, by forcefully crashing the gate to the entrance of the Jolly Nyame Stadium, where the items were being distributed.
The hoodlums also vandalised the vehicles NEMA used to bring in the relief materials and made away with both food and non-food items made for the flood victims.
Saddened by the incident, the Assistant Head of Operations and Head of Relief and Rehabilitation, NEMA, Yola Operations Office, Ali Kadiri Moses, described the situation as extremely embarrassing and wicked and said it was worse than that of the #ENDSARS.
According to him from “#ENDSARS period to this very moment, we have done a series of distributions”, he lamented that “each time we come here for distributions of relief materials, we are always being harassed by hoodlums.”
Worried by how the attacks keep recurring, Ali Kadiri Moses passionately pleaded with the Taraba state government to bring things to order and said “our lives are not safe” he added that if it should continue, the agency will be scared to visit the state to give any intervention.
The officials further observe that the havoc wreaked by the flood was “enormous” as over 200 households were affected.
NEMA leadership said, they will be willing and ready to come in with more relief materials for victims only if the government can guarantee their safety.
Some victims who were expecting the intervention frowned at the ill acts of the hoodlums, and call on the security operatives and the state government to do something quick and put an end to such dastardly acts, they also pleaded with NEMA to fathom another way they can send the relief materials to them as they are seriously in need.
