Boko Haram kidnaps Yobe state gov’t official, FAAN workers, Nigerian soldier along Maiduguri-Damaturu expressway

Members of the Boko Haram terrorists group have confirmed the kidnap of individuals who they claim are two employees of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Liaison Officer of the Yobe State Government House, Maiduguri identified as Ali Shehu Mai Lalle and a member of the Nigerian army.

The terrorist group carried out the kidnap after they ambushed the officials who were travellers along Maiduguri- Damaturu road and were able to know the identity of the hostages from their employment identity cards.

Neptune Prime reports that Mai Lalle, the Yobe State Government Liaison Officer in Maiduguri, Borno State, was reported to have left for Maiduguri last Saturday from Government House, Damaturu in his official vehicle Toyota Hilux conveying diesel for use in the liaison office due to prolonged power outage in Maiduguri metropolis.

A staff of the Yobe State Government House Protocol Unit who pleaded anonymity disclosed that “I saw him when he was departing for Maiduguri after which, we heard that he hasn’t reached his destination.”

Reports also gathered that the liaison officer and other officials were abducted by the insurgents along Damaturu-Maiduguri highway, near Jakana village which is a few kilometres to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
