Women Lawyers distribute blankets to 30 victims of gender-based violence in Yobe

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Yobe Chapter, on Thursday distributed 30 blankets to 30 victims of gender-based violence in Yobe.
The distribution of the blankets was done with support from UNHCR.
Speaking at the event in Damaturu, the state’s FIDA Chairperson, Hajiya Altine Ibrahim, noted that the blankets would cushion the effect of the victims’ suffering.

She used the medium to call on government and philanthropists to also help in providing psychosocial support to the victims.
Ibrahim also thanked the Action Health Incorporated (AHI) and the UNFPA for their support in facilitating the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Bill awaiting the assent of Gov Mai Mala Buni.
A beneficiary, Hauwa Mohammad, thanked FIDA for the blankets and wise counsel.
