Bandits kill 16, burn over 100 houses to ashes in Batsari (Photos)
Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano
Bandits, Tuesday evening, invaded Batsari town in Katsina State and killed 16 people, injuring several others and burning more than one hundred houses to ashes.
They started the operation from 7 pm to 10 pm after taking away foodstuff, animals and money, then went ahead to beat whoever they caught. Because Batsari is one of the 13 local governments that were disconnected from the telecommunication network by the government, there was no way to seek assistance.

The gunmen killed mostly the rich and privileged people in the village, burnt houses belonging to the rich, harassed their families and later left at their convenience.
After leaving Batsari, they stopped at Yasore, a village 2 kilometers away and burnt the entire village.
At the time of filing this report, there was no response from Katsina State government because the governor had just travelled out of the country. But some of those that left Batsari for other safe places told the press how they were beaten and humiliated before their families, and 16 of them were killed.
